Hailey Bieber is shaking up her going-out style. On August 17 Bieber traded in her pink sequins and black leather mini dresses for a red and yellow jersey with matching athletic shorts at a concert in Los Angeles. Though photos from the evening showed a fraction of the comfy ‘fit, which Bieber paired with gold jewelry and her “strawberry girl” makeup look, it wasn’t until Bieber shared the full ensemble on Instagram that we caught sight of her unexpected footwear.
In slide four of Bieber’s latest photo dump, shared on August 18, the model gave her followers a better view of the look, highlighting her skinny shades, a Y2K-inspired anklet, and a large “B” for Bieber pendant. However, the accessory that stood out the most had to be her black mule heels. While this is clearly another example of the “wrong shoe theory” done right, these heels are not just unexpected due to the relaxed nature of the rest of the look but also because of Bieber’s recent dedication to closed-toed footwear.
In case you don’t follow her wardrobe as closely as Glamour, the 26-year-old has been at the forefront of this summer’s socks and sandals trend and has paired many of her recent going-out looks with closed-toed pumps. She even rocked a pair of white socks with Mary Jane ballet flats in the same slideshow as her recent elevated take on athleisure.

Hailey Bieber is clearly having fun with her wardrobe, but I couldn’t help but wonder if this latest fit is inspired by her first-ever viewing of Sex and the City. After all, pairing mules with track shorts sounds like a combo Carrie Bradshaw would wear…oh wait, she did!
