The request for liquidation was made on Tuesday, November 29 to the Commercial Court of Nancy, as Alea Conseil, the publishing company of the magazine has its headquarters in Saxon-Sion in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Maître Pierre Bruart has been mandated to carry out this liquidation, which, according to the administrative documents communicated by the clerk’s office, follows a situation of cessation of payment declared on October 26.

This liquidation puts an end to a media outlet that had been, for 52 years, piloted and developed by journalist Lucien Abra, who passed away in 2016. The leader had built a weekly magazine with an unrivalled reputation among professionals in the textile, fashion and luxury sectors. In 2020, the activity had been taken over in the form of “lease management” by the company Bee Medias.

Already existing in a digital version, particularly adapted for tablets, the magazine took an online format and begun to be published on a website that was updated daily. The amount of paper  versions sent to print had also been reduced. However, like many other publications, Le Journal du Textile was let down by its lack of advertising opportunities, according to our information.

Contacted by FashionNetwork.com, Pierre Bruart’s office said that it is still too early to discuss the rest of the procedure, particularly the potential transfer of the renowned “brand” that Le Journal du Textile had become in 58 years.
