Oversized blazers have been all over Instagram this spring, but Taylor Swift has the perfect sartorial solution for these hot summer months.
On June 11, Swift took part in the Storytellers series at the Tribeca Festival (previously known as the Tribeca Film Festival) at Beacon Theatre in New York City to discuss her short film All Too Well. Ahead of the event, Swift stepped out of her vehicle wearing a matching pinstripe vest and suit pants. While the vest was slightly tapered at the waist, it fit loosely and the pleated trousers were kept baggy. Despite the absence of a matching blazer or suit jacket, this look perfectly encapsulated the relaxed elegance of the popular oversized suit trend.
Swift paired the look with her signature red lip and kept her blonde hair in loose waves and blunt bangs.
Taylor Swift has fully embraced the power of a suit at multiple film events. For the Sundance premiere of the Miss Americana documentary in January 2020, the pop star wore a Carmen March houndstooth jumpsuit with wide, pleated legs, topping off the outfit with a matching trench. Once again her dark blonde hair was let down in waves and her red lips added a pop of color.
Then, in November 2021, Swift dressed in a double-breasted slim-fitting purple velvet pantsuit by Etro for the New York premiere of All Too Well.
During the Tribeca event, Taylor Swift shared her interest in directing a feature film in the future and gave additional insight into the message of All Too Well. According to Swift, the red typewriter the main character (Sadie Sink) uses to write her novel was a gift from her older boyfriend. “We see her typing on that typewriter,” Swift said, per . “We assume he gave it to her: She complimented it, and he gave it to her. He’s taken a lot from her in the course of this [song], but he’s also given her something: this dream and hope of being a writer. This experience is what galvanized her life and career.”
