Schoeller launches “Re-Source”. The fabric collection is part of the Swiss textile manufacturer’s comprehensive brand sustainability strategy. According to the company, the motivation behind this collection is the fact that more and more consumers expect sustainable alternatives from the textile industry without wanting to forego modern design and high functionality.
“With Re-Source, we as a brand are making a textile contribution to our Schoeller brand vision: a better future for people and the planet. By reusing materials that have already been used, we create ecological and social added value,” says Antonio Gatti Balsarri, chief commercial officer.
The focus of the performance fabrics has been put on comfort, durability and optimal weather protection: in urban environments, as workwear or outdoor wear. According to Schoeller, the collection is entirely made from bio-based, post-consumer and pre-consumer materials such as recycled polyester and spandex. While two fabrics from the collection are lined with Nativa merino wool.
“For Re-Source, the special Q-Cycle process was used. The resistant and durable Q-Cycle polyamide is obtained by pyrolysis of used tyres and saves on CO2 emissions compared to the combustion process. Therefore we are helping with climate change”, explains Hans Kohn, COO, Schoeller Technologies AG.
Schoeller will present the recycled textile collection at the upcoming Performance Days in Munich from March 15 to 16.
