Wake up, kids! Two new Meghan Markle ’fits just dropped, and there’s something for every Gen Z’er and millennial to enjoy.
After crashing the J.Crew website by wearing a particularly covetable white cardigan, the Duchess of Sussex kept the corporate fashion inspo going at the 2023 Invictus Games on September 14. To start off the day, Markle spurned the always popular all-black work uniform for a lighter monochrome fall ensemble by pairing a brown silk button-up blouse from L’Agence with wide-leg linen trousers. With this look, Markle pacified both Gen Z and millennial fashion police by embracing the younger generation’s favored wide-leg baggy fit while holding on to the high-waist silhouette for dear life, proving it’s never all or nothing.
In a way, it’s fitting that Markle wore this look for a meet-up with NATO representatives that was held during the games. A true diplomat, that one!
Markle completed the look with simple gold jewelry, black sunnies, and pointed-toe suede shoes that barely poke out below the floor-length pants. Once again, it bears repeating that tailoring is optional in 2023. Just ask Amal Clooney and Blake Lively.
However, Meghan Markle was not done for the day. Later on, the duchess embraced the sporty prep aesthetic you’ve seen all over fashion campaigns and TikTok. A true Ralph Lauren girly, Markle traded in her latte-toned ’fit for a white sweater vest and white cropped skinny jeans—yes, skinny jeans—to watch a volleyball match with Prince Harry, who also dressed more casually, in a chambray button-down and black trousers.
If this doesn’t settle the escalating Pant Wars of 2023, I don’t know what will.
