There are two things Irina Shayk loves more than taking bathroom selfies with Riccardo Tisci: nude-illusion dresses (like this one or this one or this one or this one), and an unnerving shoe that simultaneously repels and demands a double tap. And since she partnered with the madcap stylist Natasha Colvin in 2022, both things have been brought together in a brilliantly chaotic union.
On September 1, Shayk uploaded an end-of-summer carousel to Instagram featuring the below image. Dressed in a sheer Blumarine minidress with an intense expression on her face, the model looks as though she might have just encountered some kind of animal (who, by the looks of it, also ransacked her hotel room). She stood among mounds of clothes, in a pair of thigh-high thong boots, willing the beast to evaporate with her mind.
This is, of course, a lie. But clothing conjures all sorts of strange associations and the pleasure of Irina Shayk leaning further into an eccentric wardrobe is the mental gymnastics it inspires. It’s perhaps the final level of luxurious living: being able to experiment with clothes and go beyond what is generally accepted to be tasteful, putting a premium on self-expression and the nonsense of a G-stringed toe.
